Yesterday, I posted a report from CNN which stated that the reason the Bush team was planning a later campaign was "to avoid conflict with the Olympics." This information was dated April 24th. However, taking a closer look at an article posted in the New York Times on April 22nd may reveal the real reason behind this decision: a "shock and awe" campaign that will exploit the anniversary of 9-11 and give the Bush team a financial advantage over the Democratic counterpart. No where in that article does it even mention the Olympics. Instead, the New York Times article makes it plainly clear the intentions of the Bush Campaign team: Shock us with more coverage of the WTC tragedy, the Afghan war, and the Iraq war, and then try to Awe us with Bush's handling of foreign diplomacy and Economic plan.
The question remains: Will we be awed at all or will the hard-cold realities creep in? We are a hated nation abroad, both in Europe and in the Middle East. Our economy is still tanking especially with the reports that the Euro has toppled the US Dollar, our stock market still hasn't fully recovered, and people are still out of jobs. Bush's recent tax cuts do not have enough effect on most middle to lower class people in this country. Well we forget all of these things when the Bush Campaign team "Shock and Awe" tactics take us by storm in September?
