You wanted to say...:

Chucklehead - 2003-05-29 15:57:02
Sounds like any given Islamic nation, North Korea, and China.

Ravyne - 2003-05-29 16:02:50
It amazes me that you can see the horrible deeds in other nations, Chucklehead, and yet, you are BLINDED by the wrongs in America. You seriously need to wake up!

Pandionna - 2003-05-29 17:03:36
Sig heil, Bush!

It sounds like many, many nations- & we're the fattest, richest, strongest one. Difference is, most of us are to BLAME for it- anyone who didnt/doesnt vote against them. So most Americans have no excuse. If this country doesnt completely collapse it'll only be thanks to folks like You, ravyne, I swear. (Apparently the name "chucklehead" is a descriptive title) -jl

Sounds like many nations, including our own right now. I would ignore chuucklehead, it's just another coward who wouldn't leave contact info. I am seeing more and more parallels between today's administration(both as a noun and verb), and the one in a book I read called The R Document, by Irving Wallace. I recommend it strongly to all of Ravyne's readers, whether you agree with her or not. I suggested it to Ravyne herself, but I don't know if she's read it or not. ;)

Wow! Scary eh?! Hopefully we'll pull through at the next election, although I doubt it. It's frightening, I am unsure about the candidates (of course I will be a year off from being able to vote at this election. 17, drat it!) but I think that the democrats are too divided in terms of candidates to be able to pull the rug out from under Shrub. We women won't go down without a fight either! And if Bush and the Repubs rigs elections...I'm moving back to Europe. :) The only scary part is, we're the 'superpower' here, and so many look to us for (among other things) financial support, economic aid, model government even etc. That gave me the shivers...

Carissa - 2003-05-29 19:32:56
Freaky how these things look when put down on paper. Yeah. I'm moving to Europe.

Vadergirl - 2003-05-29 23:27:07
+shakes her head+ Nope not moving, not leaving, I'm staying and being a little pain in the ass. Anyways who says things are any better in other places of the world ?

Christopher - 2003-05-30 01:30:46
I agree with you but I don't agree that anyone else could lead us in this mess better or even worse. We have to be vigilant but not hateful. What a world. Are you as tired as I am of Islam being blamed for this all? This comes for the oldes Jewish man in Kentucky. Oi.

Go spend a few days in a real facist regime and you'll be running back to the United States, kissing the ground and praising the government. I've been in some of those countries and they are nothing like the United States. There is a palpable fear in the air. Sorry, I don't walk out to get my newspaper and worry if one of my neighbors told the secret police that I'm a traitor and that I'll be executed. Try being a little more informed and a lot less general.

Ravyne - 2003-05-30 19:08:29
Those days are coming to a neighborhood near you, Jay. We are ONE terrorist attack away from it. FEMA will step in, all of the Executive Orders will go into effect, and since all our men will be fighting wars overseas for the Bush Regime, who do you think will protect us? Keep in mind that most of the states are going bankrupt. Many states have already closed some of their "first response" posts: fire and rescue. There is no money to fund more police officers in most states. So again, I ask: who will protect us? More than likely foreign troops. Wake up and smell the stench coming from the White House before it is too late.

Jason, you can try joining "Meet UP" at www.meetup.com ...Once there, you can do a search for Meet Up groups, like Democrats, a candidate you support like Dean or Kucinich, or Kerry, etc. Or start your own Meet Up Venue. Also, you can try making flyers and handing them out in your local area on the weekends. Volunteer with your local branch of your favorite political party, get people registered to vote, organize a drive-pool to the polls, etc. There is much we can do...We just need to start doing it NOW.

Well, it is true that our government is in shabbles thanks to great and super Dubya who is a complete dimwit. How can someone like that even get into office. Its amazing, because in the midwest and eastern united states, they all hail him as the great savior, which makes you wonder how many blind people there are in the world and in the united states. Completely random fact, but did you know that when dubya's father was in office he once puked all over the Japanese prime minister person. I thought that that was funny, besides the point that it was a japanese prime minister person...

Do you REALLY think that given our set of circumstances anyone would act differently? Ghandi would be acting the way Bush and Ashcroft are if he were in their possitions. I really don't think we're looking at a Hitler situation. I've been to Communist Countires, I've seen the scars of Facism in Europe, we don't have THOSE problems. Al Gore, Senators Kerry, Lieberman, Graham, and the the host of other Senators and Governors arrayed to take on Bush would be (and very well could be) doing the same things. Sure, Clinton did NOTHING and we suffered attack after attack. The Trade Center, the Bases in the Saudi Kingdom, Our Embassies in Africa, the Cole, ONE RIGHT AFTER THE OTHER, at least someone finally said, "enough." If you want to live in a country where that behavior is acceptable, go there. Also, you can't call Bush this "evil genius" (did I spell that correctly?) and a "nimwit" simultaniously.

America's biggest problem at the moment lies NOT with Dubya - it's with the masses. We've become too middle of the road. Neither Bush nor Gore were extremists of any sort, and the distinctions between the Democrats and the Republicans grow blurrier every day. Nader MIGHT'VE been OK, but people are too scared to vote for someone so radical - they're too interested in "playing it safe". As a country, we are ambivalent, unable to choose between two leaders who would've been equally incompetent (Who's going to tell me Gore would've been better? Anyone?) and in desparate need of a diaper change.

Some of you people need to wake up. To say that Bush is not an extremist is to wear blinders. He is the most extreme right wing president we've ever had, further right than Reagan even, and the foundations are being laid for a propaganda controlled fascist state with the people lulled into apathy, while the rich and powerful get even more wealth and power. He calls a tax giveaway to the rich a "jobs program" while jobs continue to disappear, he packs the courts with right-wing idealogues, he allows the airwaves to be taken over by large corporate interests, he uses the military instead of diplomacy, he has squandered the good will of the US in the world so that even our "allies" no longer trust us. To see no difference between the Republicans and Democrats is to be blind. The Democrats are the party of the common people and the working people, concerned with preserving and extending the progess of the last 50 years for all citizens. The Republicans are the party of the wealthy, the big corporations, and the gullible, with a powerful propaganda machine to deceive the voters. Wake up!

Whoa--Patriot, and others accusing Herr Presidente Busch of Fascism...much as I've been accused of the same accusation, the thing is, the description is too broad to be much use. The 14 indicators apply equally to socialist, capitalist, and numerous democratic governments, in varying degrees. No--Bush is a populist in the "lynch mob" mold, not a Fascist in the mechanized slaughter mold. If we accuse him of Fascism, he'll easily be able to offset the accusation by making a handful of "I love Muslims" puff statements. We must be more sophisticated in our analysis: the other side certainly is more sophisticated than that.

Canada's government, though corrupt and degraded, is still purest white in comparison to the regime of the Bush administration. I shall continue my stereotypically Canadian snide laughter at your countrys foibles, but it does cheer me to know that there are some remarkable, intelligent and self aware American citizens out there, even if there are few in Congress. I'll just watch from the sidelines, however. It's happier here.
