Yes. And frustrated. I have not had a job since December of 2000. For a while I didn't need one. But now that I do, I can't get one, because there is always someone more qualified, more experienced, or better educated than I am. And the opprtunities are slim. I went for an interview last week that was a group interview. The company was doing it that way because they had such a large applicant pool, and only one open position. It's depressing.

It's not just a nationwide problem. It seems to be continentally wide =) In Canada, because of 9.11.01, the economy has been shaky and in some places completely collapsed. Unemployment is ridiculous in all major cities, and the government programs that are supposed to help the unemployed obtain employment are now turning people away.

I am leaving comments even in older entries, even though probably nobody will ever read them. Here's something to make everybody even MADDER: high-paying computer programming jobs are being exported to India where the pay is less, Philippino nurses and teachers and being brought to the U.S. because they expect less pay, and companies are more and more getting rid of employees and having their functions performed by outsourced companies who hire the cheapest people they can find and give them no benefits. THAT's what's happening in the new Bush economy. In an earlier entry you had a guest list of people at a White House dinner that included practically every governmental officer in all of the country of the Philippines. Now you know why. Bush's father, George Bush, Sr., is a high-level officer in a company called The Carlyle Group (they hired him right after he completed his Presidential term), and one of the things that company does is set up and then broker connections between American corporations and third world country employment pools doing WHITE COLLAR jobs. First the blue collar, industrial jobs were exported out, and now the white collar jobs are going, too. And yet people VOTED for this administration and continue to approve of it.
