And I Thought I Couldn't Get Anymore Disgusted - How Wrong I Was - ::UPDATED!!!::I've been doing some serious reading today, but unfortunately not for pleasure. So I thought I would share a few of the articles I have found with the rest of you Diarylanders. The first article reveals one more scheme from the Bush Administration to hammer the Working Class into the ground (as if we could sink much further). Workplace Flexibility by Molly Ivins Here is a snippet from it: Consider the Family Time and Workplace Flexibility Act (Senate version) and the Family Time Flexibility Act (House version). The Bush administration is leading the charge with proposed new rules that will erode the 40-hour workweek and affect more than 80 million workers now protected by the Fair Labor Standards Act. I encourage everyone to read that article and then contact your congress members and protest it. ********** The next article gives a closer look into the neocons and what this writer calls "flag conservatives". This one actually made me queazy. Battling for the soul of the American republic by Ahmad Faruqui Here is a snippet from this article: As the battle for Baghdad comes to a close in Iraq, a battle for the soul of the American republic has begun in Washington. This is a battle of ideas being waged by people with an imperial concept of American power, or "flag conservatives", with a diverse coalition of other groups. The flag conservatives have taken the view that America needs to fight a long war of self defense until the last one of the cold-blooded killers of September 11 has been hunted down and killed and until all regimes in the "axis of evil" - Iraq, Iran and North Korea - have been changed. The opposing coalition does not support such an imperial expression of power. The opposing coalition counters that an imperial war will erase the very freedoms domestically that the US seeks to project internationally. This coalition spans the ideological spectrum, and includes conservatives such as Pat Buchanan, libertarians such as Ted Galen Carpenter of the Cato Institute and Jacob Hornberger of the Future of Freedom Foundation, mainstream democrats and the various groups who were active in the no-war movement. ********** The final article that I will share for now, mainly because I am really getting physically ill from reading these (not that I want to disway anyone else, I am just not up to par today anyway and these articles are not helping), is a commentary that explains why we - Americans - may be living under a Bush Regime for the next century: The Bums Will Always Lose Here is a little snippet from this commentary: The game is over. Thats what Iraqs UN ambassador said when the US took Baghdad. Its true: the game is over for all of us, not just Iraq. For the rest of your lifetime, the world is going to be run by Bushs America. ******* If you manage to stomach your way through all three articles, please feel free to make comments on them.
