With the 2004 Elections nearing, one would think that Bush would be doing everything he can to keep as many supporters as possible. However, according to the following article, Bush could lose the support of the NRA. Since the NRA is a huge lobbyist organization, Bush could also lose a lot of votes. Check out the following: Bush Backs Renewing Assault Weapons Ban The Bush administration is bucking the National Rifle Association and supporting a renewal of the assault weapons ban, set to expire just before the presidential election. "The president supports the current law, and he supports reauthorization of the current law," White House spokesman Scott McClellan told Knight Ridder. Tossing out the ban on semiautomatic weapons is a top priority of the NRA.
